Bloch-Elkouby Lab for Suicide Prevention and Psychotherapy Research

Sabriya is a student in the Ferkauf Adult Clinical Psy.D. program. She received her B.A. in Psychology and Political Science from Stony Brook University in 2022. Additionally, she received her M.P.H. from Columbia University in 2026, where she conducted research on a culturally responsive art therapy intervention for Bangladeshi parent–(adult) child dyads. Based on this experience, Sabriya is interested in understanding how intergenerational trauma and acculturative factors contribute to suicidality among South Asian populations, as well as exploring how incorporating culturally meaningful practices into therapy can strengthen the therapeutic alliance. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, drawing, and creating miniature book nooks.
